I know nothing about Early College. I know a little bit about Early College. I am good! I got this….Like a Boss!

2 Early College At Msa and SCF
Dual Enrollment DE allows qualified/eligible high school students to enroll in selected college courses to satisfy both high school graduation and associate degree requirements. Early Admission EA is a form of dual enrollment through which qualified/eligible students in grade 12 enroll at SCF on a full-time basis. Students must enroll in a minimum of 12 credit hours per semester, and may not exceed 15 credit hours per term.

3 Early College Basics You…..
…Are creating your first ever college transcript and COLLEGE GPA Yo….this is a big deal! …Must maintain “C” or better in all Early College classes Think about your transcript here kids….C’s = 2.0 …May transfer credits to the Florida university of your choice You must check with the university to see how they accept your SCF credits Ask about an AA degree some schools are not fans of a complete AA OR consider finishing at SCF and save $$$$!

4 NEW REQUIREMENTS for Early Admissions
ALL EARLY ADMISSIONS STUDENTS MUST COMPLETE ECONOMICS WITH FINANCIAL LITERACY BY AUGUST 1ST TO BE AN EARLY ADMISSION STUDENT AT SCF. You will take this on FLVS. You will sign up with FLVS during the SCF registration process.

5 Let’s Talk about Math….Early Admissions at SCF
If you are planning to go to SCF full time you MUST meet the 114 Math Cut Score!!!!!! PERT retakes are the week of March 13th, Mon. Tues, Wed…Subject to change. If you do not meet the 114 cut score you will be required to remain at MSA until: You have met the college readiness requirement You meet your 4th Math requirement for graduation

Checklist for Early College Registration Process THE DEADLINE FOR COMPLETING THE REGISTRATION PROCESS IS FRIDAY, MAY 5, 2017 at 5PM! NO EXCEPTIONS TO THIS DEADLINE! Let’s talk about the SCF registration packet In the SCF registration packet you will find the following: Checklist for Early College Registration and SCF Application

7 Checklist for Early College Registration
Follow the steps below to complete the Early College enrollment process.  Fill out the application. (Do not fill in the GPA … I will add your GPA and PERT scores). Make sure that you fill out each page and get all of the required signatures. Make sure you use an address you check often since MSA High School Guidance will be sending you updates throughout the year.  Review the application with your parents and show them where to sign and date the application.  Return the completed application to HS Guidance Place your SCF application in the bin by Ms. Quick’s office in HS Guidance. PLEASE NOTE: If you turn your application by 10AM you can pick it up in HS Guidance during the WALK most days!

8 Checklist continued  Take your application to the Admissions Office at SCF and turn it in. (See hours and location on the back of the checklist.) PLEASE NOTE: Students MUST be present when the application is taken to SCF. SCF will keep the application and PERT scores  SCF MAY give you a SCF Student ID/G00# when you drop off your app.  If SCF is busy, they will NOT give you the student ID/G00 #. No big deal!  You will receive a Letter of Acceptance from SCF.  This letter will contain your G00#, a username, and password.  DO NOT LOSE THIS INFORMATION. You will need it when school starts in August.  Return the Early College Contract to MSA  Make sure you have read the contract carefully with your parents.  Make sure you add the G00# (student ID#)  Make sure you and your parents sign and date the contract. Students will not be scheduled for any college classes unless the contract is returned.

10 Scheduling Classes Scheduling:
Early College Dual Enrollment students taking all classes at MSA will register for all classes at MSA in August. DO NOT TRY TO REGISTER FOR YOUR CLASSES AT SCF! If you are attending SCF full time as an Early Admissions student, and you are not currently an Early College Dual Enrollment Student YOU NEED TO complete the registration packet with Ms. Quick…THEN… Make an appointment with Mrs. Fitzpatrick to get your Approval Form. If you are attending SCF part time make an appointment with Mrs. Fitzpatrick to get your Approval From. 11th and 12th graders that do not have reliable transportation may take E-Learning/Web-based classes on the MSA campus. These courses also require an Approval Form.

11 Approval form checklist
 Review the AA Planning Guide on the SCF website. Make a list of classes you would like to take at SCF.  Schedule an Appointment to meet with Mrs. Fitzpatrick to discuss your course selections for SCF. Be ready for this appointment. Have your desired course list and questions ready.  Review your course selections with your parents and have your parent sign the Approval Form.  Take the Approval Form to the SCF Early College Office on the Bradenton Campus. Turn in the form…..SCF will sign the form. Get your copy of the form. Do not leave SCF without a signed copied of your Approval Form.  Make two copies of the Approval Form signed by SCF and return a copy to Mrs. Fitzpatrick. Keep the other copy for your records…..Use this Approval Form to register for classes. The hold with SCF will not be released to register for classes without the signed Approval Form returned to MSA.  Sign up for your classes on SCF Connect. Register for ONLY the classes on your Approval Form. If you need to add a course to the Approval Form notify Mrs. Fitzpatrick immediately.  Submit a copy of your COMPLETE Student Detailed Schedule to Mrs. Fitzpatrick.  Register for Econ with Fin. Lit. and/or math if necessary on FLVS. Work during the summer on these classes. Econ must be finished by August 1st. Courses must be finished in the semester you sign up for them..  Deadline to complete all of the above …. FRIDAY, MAY 5, NO EXCEPTIONS

12 Guess what? You are a college student!
You now have additional responsibilities: ALL Early College students need to commit to the workload. This is what you want...right? If you are an Early College student…especially Early Admissions or part time Dual Enrollment at SCF you need to: Mark sure you meet deadlines and be mindful of the SCF Academic Calendar and the MSA Calendar Keep up-to-date information on file with HS Guidance. IE: , cell, or issues at SCF Read your s daily and respond….If you receive a text, respond immediately…just like you expect me to respond immediately!!!

13 A word about Scf transcripts
Submitting a SCF Transcript at the end of each semester is REQUIRED. At the end of each semester you will receive an with a deadline and instructions for submitting an electronic transcript. Plan ahead as there is a $7 cost that is your responsibility. If you do not submit your SCF Transcript by the deadline: The courses you take at SCF will NOT appear on your HS Transcript putting your graduation in jeopardy. You will not receive a Book Voucher to pay for your books until you can prove you have ordered the transcript or we have received your transcript. You may not be allowed to return to SCF.

14 Be Responsible …..I mean Seriously….. You are a college student
Important things to remember: Keep your SCF G00#, username, and password in a safe place. MSA does not have access to this information. If you lose this information the you will need to contact SCF. Make sure HS Guidance has your up-to-date and cell number. Notify us immediately if your contact information changes. We cannot give you a college class on your schedule without the signed Early College contract AND the GOO #. Deadlines are deadlines….do not miss them! No excuses! You can do it just stay organized! DEADLINE FRIDAY, MAY 5TH.
