Why did God create us? How did God make us like Himself? How can we please God in everyday living?

2 After God finished creating the plants and the
animals, He had only one thing left to create: the pinnacle of His creation: man.

3 The use of the word “man” to describe the human race
Some people prefer not to use the word “man” to describe the human race. They prefer the usage of gender neutral terms such as “humanity,” “humankind,” “human beings,” or “persons.” Genesis 1:27 says, “So God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him, male and female He created them.” So, according to Genesis 1:27, “man” refers to both male and female.”

4 The use of the word “man” to describe the human race
Genesis 1:27 says, “So God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him, male and female He created them.” So, according to Genesis 1:27, “man” refers to both male and female.” Genesis 5:2 says, “Male and female He created them, and He blessed them and named them Man when they were created.” Therefore, “Man” refers to the entire human race.

5 Why was man created? God did not need to create man, but He created man for the sole purpose of bringing Him glory. Isaiah 43:7 Because of this, our ultimate goal in life should be: to live for God’s glory. 1 Corinthians 10:31

6 Why was man created? One of the ways we glorify God is by enjoying Him. Westminster Confession of Faith: Question #1

7 Why was man created? When we realize that God created us to glorify him, and when we start to act in ways that fulfill that purpose, then we begin to experience an intensity of joy in the Lord that we have never before known. 1 Peter 1:8 In the midst of our glorifying God, we find God rejoicing over us with singing. Zephaniah 3:17

8 How was man created? Man was the ONLY part of God’s creation that was created in His image. Genesis 1:26-27

9 How was man created? We are like God in that we. . . are moral creatures, accountable to God for our actions. are spiritual beings are able to relate to others. Man is like God in his relationship to creation. Specifically, man has been given the right to rule over creation.

10 How was man created? We are like God in that we. . . can process information as a reflection of God’s knowledge. We have the ability to reason and think logically. Our likeness to God is also seen in our human creativity. Our use of complex, abstract language sets us apart from the animals.

11 How was man created?

12 How was man created? The Fall: God’s image in us is partly distorted. Can man still be like God despite man’s repeated sins? James 3:9 However, since man has sinned, he is certainly not as fully like God as he was before he sinned. Ecclesiastes 7:29

13 How will man end up? The good news is that God’s image is being restored! God redeems us through Christ so that we can be conformed to the image of His Son. Romans 8:29 Our redemption in Christ means that we can, even in this life, progressively grow into more and more likeness to God. This is known as sanctification. At the end of time, all of God’s children will become like His Son. 1 Corinthians 15:49.

14 What is man’s responsibility?
As creatures made in God’s image, we were also made to be His representatives on earth. This is why God told Adam and Eve to be fruitful and multiply. Genesis 1:28 We are also called to take care of the earth (Also) Genesis 1:28

15 What is man’s responsibility?
We also have the responsibility to help restore His people and land to the way that they were meant to be. Revelation 21:5 We long to see the world returned to its original state – a world without thistles and thorns. Genesis 3:18

16 Memory Verse Genesis 1:28 – “And God blessed them. And God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it, and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”
