Bacteria and antibiotics

In the 1900s, the first cause of death was bacterial infections.
In 1928, Alexander Fleming discovered penicillin, the first antibiotic. By the 1950s, antibiotics are widely used to fight infections and bacteria seemed to be under control. Late 20th century: antibiotics start to lose effectiveness In 2013, CDC published a report outlining the top 18 drug-resistant threats to the United States. These threats were categorized based on level of concern: urgent, serious, and concerning.
