2 Meetings - 2016 Face to Face meeting in February, 2016
Chair, Siobhan Hanratty had been offered Atlantic Canada representation on EAC Liz Hill new Chair as of April 2016 Fall teleconference meeting, business item, change name of committee from Education Committee to Professional Development Committee

3 Professional Development Committee
EAC approved name change at Fall (October) 2016 meeting DLI Unit coordinating name change on folders, web site to reflect the new name.

4 Professional Development Committee
EAC approved name change at Fall (October) 2016 meeting DLI Unit coordinating name change on folders, web site to reflect the new name. An announcement of the name change will be sent to the DLI list, along with a number of other announcements in the near future

5 Update on Training – Quebec Region
April 28, – Quebec region (27 attendees) 2 days of training DLI contacts participating – 13 Other attendees from Academic institutions – 6 StatCan employees – 3 (plus Census presenters) Themes of training – Nesstar & WDS, PCCF, R, Portage, Crowdsourcing, Census

6 Update on Training – Atlantic Region
May 5, – Atlantic region (28 attendees) Pre-regional training survey conducted to garner information on topics sought by attendees 2 days of training DLI contacts participating – 10 Alternates to Contacts participating - 2 Other attendees from Academic institutions – 9 StatCan employees – 5 Themes of training – Basics of Census Geography, B2020, Data Literacy, Excel Pivot Charts, Health Statistics, Searching / Accessing DLI collection  

7 Update on Training – Fall 2016
November 29 – Dec 1 – Western Region (Victoria, University of Victoria) 2.5 days of training Western region participants– 31 Other attendees from Ontario – 2 StatCan employees – 3 Themes – Census, GIS, PCCF+, RDM December 7,8 – Ontario Region (Toronto, Ryerson University)

Survey of Contacts and Alternates Working group of the Professional Development Committee (Marilyn Andrews, Alex Cooper, Liz Hill, Sandra keys) Reviewing 2012 questions, adding in new services that have developed since then – WDS, StatCan Nesstar, Portage Also updating survey to current tools. RDM Timeline for survey – editing questions, reviewing logic, working with entire PC Committee for review in the New Year. Aim to conduct survey (directed to Contacts and Alternates in Spring 2017).

DLI Survival Guide Working with DLI section to verify updates made to the Survival Guide Further edits pending, translation in 2017 Updated Survival Guide will be shared with the DLI community

10 New Working Group – Training Goals
Sub-group of the EAC Evaluating the training from DLI to the community over the past 7 years, to recommend whether the current model responds to the needs of the DLI community satisfactorily, or to see if a change in the financing of regional workshops may be in order, or if the frequency of workshops might need further review

Roles and Responsibilities Review DLI training principles and regional workshop programs from the last 7 years to see if they align examining programs and budgets gather input directly from Contacts and Alternates consider results from upcoming DLI Contacts / Alternates Survey

12 New Working Group – Training Goals
Membership   Chair – Siobahan Hanratty (EAC Member), Chair PD Committee will be a member, plus 1 person per regions who is either a Contact or Alternate but not a RTC.  Call will be coming soon, consider putting your name forward when the call is sent out, or nominating a peer. Timelines Report to the EAC (interim – Spring of 2017), final Fall of 2017
