What should a driver do when involved in or come upon a traffic crash?
Stop in a well lighted environment Call 911 Help injured people (Only if trained in first aid) Warn other drivers by using hazard lights/flares Ask all those involved for their names, addresses, phone numbers, driver’s licenses, license plate numbers and insurance information

Crash Reports Regardless of fault, a crash must be filed:
Crash involves death Crash involves injury Crash involves property damage over $1500 or over $500 if a vehicle owner is uninsured

Crash Reports A crash report can be made by notifying:
City police (within city limits) State police (rural area) County Sheriff (rural area)

Unattended Vehicle Stop vehicle in an area away from traffic
Leave your name, address, phone number, and license plate number Notify Police Complete all requested crash reports

Leaving the Scene of a Crash
A driver has 30 minutes to report a crash after it occurs Leaving the scene of a crash will result in a fine, suspension of driver’s license and jail time
