2 Future Tense Verbs A future tense verb describes an action that is GOING TO HAPPEN. (has not happened yet) Use the magic word WILL to write about the future. Example: Present Tense: It rains. Past Tense: It rained Future: It will rain.

3 Examples Nancy went to the store yesterday. Pr P F Bill runs outside.
Ms. Flores walks down the hall. Juan ran fast. Laura will go to the store.

4 Using Colons and Quotation Marks
Use a colon : between the hour and minutes when writing the time. Example: It is 9:07 am. Use quotation marks to show that someone is talking. Put them at the beginning and at the end of a person’s exact words. Example: Mom asked, “How are you?”

5 Practice Its am My sister asked, Can I borrow your sweater today? Rebecca told me, I can’t wait to go shopping this weekend! Write your own sentence using quotation marks. I asked my cousin, Can I borrow your game?
