2. The Project
One of 29 projects within the Solway Wetlands Landscape Partnership Scheme
Funded by the Heritage Lottery
Started in 2015, ends Spring 2017

3. Aims
To capture the memories of people living on the Solway Plain over the past century
Why?
Life and landscape has changed dramatically over the last years
There are still people around who have experienced these changes over time
Technology allows us to preserve these memories for the future
Oral history allows us to experience the past through the eyes of people
It is often a means for people in communities to come together and develop their understanding and appreciation of the past

4. What are we doing
Developed with project with some core local ambassadors
Recruited and trained a group of volunteers in oral history practice
The volunteers have identified local people to interview and carried out recordings
Held fortnightly sessions to have a coffee and review the interviews carried out
Held several community drop in days
So far they have held and recorded interviews with 34 people with more to come
Started making a short film of the project
Still to come:
Transcription of all interviews
Design and publication of a booklet
Upload as many of the interviews as possible to the web
Create a complete archive of recordings for deposit in Tullie House Museum Social History Archive
Hold a celebration event
