9. FRESHMEN AND NEW TRANSFERS
All freshmen are required to take the Basic Skills Tests before entering sophomore year.
All new transfer students who enter CHC with 60 or more credits have only 1 semester to take and pass all the Basic Skills Test, unless exempt based on your High School SAT or ACT scores.

Keep track of your progress by checking your audit often!

You are responsible for bringing the following to each meeting
Copy of Your Advising Sheet (found on the portal)
Benchmark Progress Sheet (p. 7 – 9 in handbook)

#6 Qualifying scores for basic skills tests (BST) in reading, math and writing:
There is now a “mix and match” option for passing the BST. Passing scores from vendors can be combined.
Pearson Pre-Service Academic Performance Assessments (PAPA), part of PA ED Certification Tests (PECT)
or Educational Testing Services CORE, (Praxis series)
or qualifying scores on the SAT or ACT as required by PDE to be exempt from taking the basic skills tests.
Brand new option for math!!!
If you take Math 232 and pass with a B or higher, you will be exempt from taking the Math Basic Skills Test.
