c) A question that asks you to decide between two things and explain your answer. E.g.: Who was more important, Galen or Hippocrates? Explain your answer. 8 Marks

2. Both Joseph Smith and Brigham Young made important contributions to the development of the Mormons.
Briefly describe the main beliefs of the Mormons. (5)
Explain why the Mormons were persecuted so much in the East. (7)
Which was Brigham Young’s most important contribution to the Mormons: deciding to go west and organising the journey, or organising the community at Salt Lake? Explain your answer. (8)

3. 1 Mark for each valid example identified, 2-3 marks for any examples that are described or explained.

Level 2 – Identifies specific reason (2-4)
Level 3 – Explains one specific reason (3-5)
Level 4 – Explains more than one specific reason
