Moodle Moodle is a free and open-source software learning management system written in PHP. Developed on pedagogical principles, Moodle is used for blended learning, distance learning, flipped classroom and other e-learning projects in schools, universities, workplaces and other sectors. To help educators to create online courses with a focus on interaction and collaborative construction of content, and it is in continual evolution. The first version of Moodle was released on 20 August 2002. As an E-learning tool, Moodle has a wide range of standard and innovative features such as calendar and Gradebook. Plugins are a flexible tool set, allowing Moodle users to extend the features of the site. There are hundreds of plugins for Moodle, extending the features of Moodle's core functionality. Each plugin is maintained in the Moodle plugins directory.

Graphical themes for Moodle can be installed to change the look and functionality of a Moodle site or of an individual course. Moodle has been translated in over 100 languages, available for any site administrator to install. Many Moodle themes, based on Responsive Web Design, allow Moodle to be used on mobile devices. A Moodle mobile app is available in Google Play, App store(iOS), and the Windows phone Store. Collaborative tools and activities: Work and learn together in forums, wikis, glossaries, database activities, and much more. Personalised Dashboard: Organise and display courses the way you want, and view at a glance current tasks and messages. Modern, easy to use interface : Designed to be responsive and accessible, the Moodle interface is easy to navigate on both desktop and mobile devices.

Demerits The first big issue is the fact that Moodle is not fully developed to cope with big projects. While it may be useful for colleges or universities of small to medium size, the system might not work efficiently with larger schools or serve as a great way to conduct all classes in a city. The more students that access the platform, the slower the system becomes. The website can also shut down on occasion, blocking the opportunity for students to access course materials, to take quizzes or tests. Assessment abilities are limited in Moodle For instance, there are a few blocks on displayed pages that do not allow administrators to insert content there.

Litmos LMS Litmos is an award winning learning management system & the most user-friendly LMS in the world. Litmos enables the rapid creation of web based courses & easy distribution to learners on Mac, PC, iPhone, iPad & Android. Easily create learning courses in minutes. Litmos is the future of learning! Thousands of companies have switched from their old LMS to Litmos over the years. In addition to individual users, groups and teams may be set up to assign and track performance. Administrators can schedule and track registration and attendance for live trainings, as well as online courses. A variety of rich media content can be uploaded to Litmos, including Flash, Video, PowerPoint, Audio, and SCORM; there is an HTML Editor, Assessment Editor and Survey Editor to build modules within Litmos. Litmos supports a number of features standard to software in this category, including support for selling courses and extensibility options.

The interface is easy to navigate compared to other LMS packages.
It is easy to upload video and Adobe captivate files. Very easy to add users and assign courses. Very user-friendly; simple interface makes it easy for end-users to navigate the system. Feature-rich; makes organization relatively simple. Attempts – Litmos tracks all answers given on a SCORM or Assessment module no matter how many times they access it. When accessing an individual’s results for either SCORM or Assessment. It will show the “attemps” with a number and a drop down menu.
8
Aggregated Assessment report – Determine how effective a course and/ or an assessment is.
By going to reports, selecting the Assessment Quick Report and selecting an assessment a graph will appear. we can determine which questions may be too difficult or may not be clear enough in the learning material and adjust your courses for the best results possible. Custom messaging for each language – When using Litmos for users all over the world, sending a message that is not in the appropriate language may confuse learners. All messages sent will automatically be in the appropriate language based on the language set in the user’s profile and settings.

Demerits Reporting features could be improved. SCORM individual reporting slows things down, being able to download the results would be easier. The biggest issues we see are around scale as we add more learners to our system. Many of the back-end features (user management, team management, reporting, etc.) work really well with as many as a few hundred users, however, these features fall flat and make management quite difficult with learners. Additionally, the omission of learning paths (ability to assign learners to a series of courses based on their needs) makes on-boarding new employees a pain. Difficult to restrict and alter course access based on individual program needs. The NOTES for the NOTICEBOARD is not easily edited. It needs to discard and recompose the notes. If the courses are available in the library to show availability it still charge a separate fee. It is not clear how to charge subscription fees as opposed to single one time charges.
