All the water falling on a watershed drains or seeps into a body of water (marsh, stream, river or lake) or sinks into the ground forming groundwater.
Watersheds can include the natural environment (forests, fields) and areas occupied by humans (farms, towns, cities).
Watersheds come in all shapes and sizes.
