Background ◦ Columbus discovered a new world - America in October 12, 1492. After Columbus found that, he went back to Spain, and went back to the America again for 3 times. He took some Natives to become the slaves for work. He also caused the disease and destruction of an important ancient and culture. After this event, the America grew fast and be stronger.

America will not be as powerful as today. ◦ Evidence: When Columbus found America, he had introduced European ideas and technologies to the Americas. Before he came, people in America were primarily hunters and gatherers. Columbus brought the achievements and innovations of scientists such as Aristotle, Isaac Newton and Galileo Galilei.

The Native Americans will not have to work as slaves. ◦ Evidence: Columbus had established the slave trade that dominate the southern United States. According to The History Channel, he kidnapped and enslaved hundreds of indigenous people, forcing them to work on plantations and as servants. Slavery quickly spread from the island of Hispaniola to South America, Mexico and the areas that would become the American South.

English will not be the world's lingua franca. ◦ Evidence: In the 16 th and 17 th centuries, there is a huge amount of migrants fled from the religious persecution from England to America.

What would the world be like? ◦ The United States will be a small and backward country because of the lack of knowledge from Europe. And the connection between the Old World and New World may not be made, which will create a big damage for the whole world.
