5. Film codes = the system of signs used in film to give meaning.
These are often referred to as techniques, or called the language of film

6. Conventions
Conventions are the commonly accepted ways of doings things, or the common expectations and information we take from a text.
Conventions operate by general agreement with the audience. Writers use these conventions and rely on audience expectations and responses to communicate meaning.
