Art and Controversy Aside from central questions such as “what is art?” and “What is good art?” There are times when art becomes controversial. A few examples might be: ● Censorship Images or language depicting explicit sex or violence are the most obvious areas of controversy. Some religious people might be deeply offended by irreverent depictions of religious figures ● Ownership Rights to music, texts or images. ●The materials used. For example Gunter von Hagen’s exhibits consist of plastinated corpses, including one corpse of a pregnant woman with her belly opened to reveal an unborn child within.
