3 Program Overview The Patriot’s Promise Summer Program is intended to
Move students toward goal of completing 30 credits/year Reinforce behaviors associated with timely degree completion Support in-state, first-year students with financial need Eligible students receive in-state tuition and fees for up to six credits for Mason courses

7 Eligible Student Population
First year at Mason In-State Pell-eligible Accepted all grants/loans offered during academic year 24-29 credits attempted at Mason 2.0+ GPA Range Total 65 Students (potential for more at the end of Spring semester)

8 Program Requirements – BEFORE Summer Classes
Meet with an Academic Advisor Complete a graduation plan If unable to see an advisor in their major/college, CAART advisors can help with unofficial plans See 4yearplans.gmu.edu for templates File the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for Register for Fall 2016 courses during priority registration Register for up to six credits of summer classes before May 16, 2016

9 Program Requirements – DURING Summer Classes
Meet with a Financial Aid Counselor Review aid package See financialaid.gmu.edu for details Participate in at least one academic enrichment activity Meet with your assigned Patriot’s Promise Summer Advisor or Academic Advisor at least two times during each summer session enrolled Successfully complete all summer classes (to reach 30 by the end of the summer)

10 Timeline Initial Agreement/Statement of Understanding due – April 22nd
Deadline to register for summer courses – May 16th Summer sessions begin – May 16th Summer sessions end – August 6th

11 Considerations for Summer Courses

Use the Career Services Search to identify opportunities Hiremason.gmu.edu If you currently have a work-study position, ask your supervisor about options to work through the summer Inquire about summer programs (STEP, EIP, etc)
