3 Analyze Satirical cartoons
GROUP: Analyze one of the two cartoons on the front page of the packet. What is funny? What is not-so-funny? THIS IS MORE THAN WHAT YOU SEE IN THE PICTURE!) Who is the target? INDIVIDUAL: Select two of the remaining four cartoons and analyze on your own. What is not-so-funny?

Read and annotate the satirical essay, paying particular attention to the humor created through elements of satire. Complete the questions on the handout.

5 Draw Your Own Satirical Cartoon
With ONE other person, pick a topic to ridicule. Draw your cartoon. On the back, address the following questions: What’s funny? What is not-so-funny? Who is the target?
