Windows OS E3 OSU’s Desktop Bundle is now called “Windows OS E3”
This does not bring changes to our offerings (yet) To take full advantage of new offerings, the following must be true: Windows 10 Pro, version 1607 (also known as Windows 10 Anniversary Update) or later installed on the devices to be upgraded Azure Active Directory (Azure AD) available for identity management (not generally true at the moment)
4
Windows OS E3 Windows OS E3 allows:
Upgrade without a key or authorization update Allows users (with permissions) to upgrade themselves via Azure AD credentials Deployment on five devices per license Rollback to Windows 10 Pro if necessary Deployment of features based on AD role, not installation

Windows Server 2016 Windows Server comes in four flavors:
Essentials Standard DataCenter MultiPoint Requires RDS CALs (not generally on license) KMS Server appears to be activating all versions Essentials is the only item that is a separate download in OCIO Self Service Windows Server 2016 is designed to work with Azure There are four versions of Windows Server 2016 (we are licensed for all of these, as much as we need, with the RDS exception noted for MultiPoint): * Windows Server 2016 Essentials – This is a small-business version of Windows Server. Most users here at OSU will not need this, and should use Standard, but it’s offered for the limited use cases it has in our environment. * Windows Server 2016 Standard – Most small use-cases should default to this version, as should primarily physical servers * Windows Server 2016 Datacenter – This edition is designed for highly virtualized datacenters and cloud environments. * Windows Server 2016 Multipoint Premium Server – This edition allows multiple users to access one computer. This requires RDS CALs that are licensed separately.
6
Microsoft System Center 2016
The System Center 2016 Datacenter Suite is now available on OCIO Self Service Listed under “Microsoft System Center” Licensed across campus (entire suite) Licensed with renewal on July 1, 2016 The Datacenter download includes Standard as well Usage depends on whether the server is highly virtualized or not Two versions of System Center 2016 (we are licensed for both versions, including all server and client ML’s): * System Center 2016 Standard – Designed for managing non- or lightly-virtualized environments * System Center 2016 DataCenter – Designed for managing highly virtualized servers

License Mobility for MS Servers
Do you want to put a license in the Azure or Amazon Cloud, or another cloud? From a licensing standpoint, the following is true: You have full mobility to place a license for anything but Windows Servers into the cloud: we have to notify Microsoft how many licenses are transferred, but we can do that. Windows Servers have full license mobility to Azure, but not to any third party cloud. Anything that goes into the Cloud still needs an Enterprise Security Assessment done.
8
License Mobility for Microsoft
Key information: For most things (Exchange, Sharepoint, SQL, etc.) except Windows Server, you may: Purchase a Linux server from the cloud provider Upload/install your own license for a Microsoft Server or product such as Windows 10 Go and have fun! For Windows Server: In Azure, you may do the same as above. In any other product, you must purchase a Windows Server license from the vendor (you cannot install a Win Server license on a linux server)

New Microsoft Offerings
With renewal of the Campus Agreement only two years away, we’re looking at the following items to add: Intune Project Visio PowerBI We will re-evaluate the student option at that time as well
10
Dell Standard Configs going through resellers in eStores
OSU Purchasing is targeting a change to ordering for Dell products All standard orders will be through resellers (CDWG/GovConnect). This offers: The same or better discount Faster turn-around time on custom orders All Dell products Custom items come fully built with Dell warranty Ability of CDWG to meet MBE/EDGE vendor requirements
11
Dell Standard Configs going through resellers in eStores
You can still obtain quotes from Dell if you prefer Request they transfer the quote to CDWG or another eStores partner Custom orders should be faster Dell was running 2-4 weeks to create custom orders CDWG suggests hours Standard Config orders through Dell ended September 30
