Lesson 1 Aim: To learn about the different sub- categories of science.
Science is divided into different sub-categories. The different categories are Biology, Chemistry, Geology, and physics. Biology is the study of living and non-living things. Chemistry is the study of matter and the chemical reactions between substances. Geology is the study of earth, rocks, volcanoes, earthquakes, rocks, mountains and the oceans; just about any feature of the earth. Physics is the study of matter, motion and movements. Task: answer the following 2 questions that are given below. 1. Which category are you most interested into researching and studying ? Why? 2. Chose any 2 Categories and give 3 examples of each.

Lesson 2 Aim: To get a clear understanding of the scientific method and being able to identify what it is used for. Do Now: How do you think you can solve a scientific experiment. The scientific Method: Title, Problem, Hypothesis, Experiment, observation, Data, and Results. Title: the name given to your experiment. Problem: written in a question form , which is a question you are trying to solve by conducting your experiment. Hypothesis: an educated guess written in the format of If……… Then…….. Because. Experiment: conduct your experiment. Observation: Write down what you observed in the experiment. Data- Your data can be written in words, table, graphs, numbers or images. Results- the final piece of the experiment known as a solution. Task: Your task is to try to conduct a scientific experiment using the scientific method. Your experiment should be conducted in the correct format. You will be given 45 minutes to conduct an accurate experiment.

Lesson 3 Aim: to have a clear understanding of the common science vocabulary words and terms. Vocabulary: Photosynthesis-the process by which plants and use sunlight to synthesize foods from carbon dioxide and water. H20 – Formula for Water Biometrics -study of biological measurement. Cell -the basic structural and functional unit of all organisms. Matter - that which has mass and occupies space. Task- chose 2 of these words and try to put it in your own words into how you would be able to learn the definition. Also chose 2 words and try to give 2 examples of each. You will have 20 minutes to perform the task.

Lesson 4 Aim: To explore the solar system and get to know the names of our planets in the solar system. Do Now: try to at least name 3 planets from the solar system . Names of the planets: Mars Venus Earth Mercury Jupiter Saturn Uranus Neptune Pluto Task: your job is to write a paragraph explaining in details which planet you would like to learn and research on as well as chosing 3 of the planets you are interested into learning about.

Lesson 5 Aim: to have a understanding of the rock cycle and being able to identify the 3 types of rocks . Do now: what do you think the rock cycle means in your words. The rock cycle consists of 3 different rocks. Igneous, metamorphic and sedimentary rocks. The igneous rock is formed by the cooling of molten magma. The sedimentary rocks is formed by the sediments. Also a fossil is a example sedimentary rocks. The metamorphic rocks are formed by the magma or lava.
