SCIETT Florida Center for Inclusive Communities Action Plan: BREVARD Year Three Increase the number of individuals who are transitioning from high school into community employment, provide information, training, and resources needed to support the expectation of employment first, and strengthen local level capacity to transition individuals into community employment settings. ACTION RESPONSIBLE TIMELINE COMMENTS Provide technical assistance and training to persons with developmental disabilities to preset the marketing message and shared belief of Brevard County. Kathy Lowe ( school district) Mary Jane Wysock (ICB) January 2009 Persons who are successfully employed are more effective with marketing value of employing persons with disabilities. Provide upfront training to job seekers concerning his/her preferences and interest Kathy Lowe Goodwill Judy Dunning January 2009 with 25% of students in transition and 25% of students prior to transition age. January 2009 with 50% of adults in sheltered workshop settings. All active job seekers. Team share belief and value of self determination for adults and students. Utilize discovery strategy with job seekers Miriam Sampieri – BAC Diane Palumbo – Easter Seal Brent Libasci - Heart to Heart Three support staff will receive complete TA for Discovery and at least three persons with DD will be employed by May 2009 State data reference to employment outcomes Judy Dunning - APD Art Bardnt – APD Current data may not reflect true outcomes in order to put an observable and measureable outcome expected for the year. No ongoing updates from supports and service providers. Serve as group head/contact – APD DVR Workforce District schools Enhance collaborative efforts and share leads, employment needs, successful practices, etc.
