Definition of URM NIH Definition DOM Definition
The following racial and ethnic groups have been shown to be underrepresented in biomedical research: American Indians or Alaska Natives, Blacks or African Americans, Hispanics or Latinos, Native Hawaiians or Other Pacific Islanders. The DOM defines under-represented minorities in the health sciences as: Native Americans or Alaska Natives, African Americans/Blacks, Hispanics/Latinos, Native Hawaiians or Pacific Islanders, and Asian sub-categories of Hmong, Karen, and Vietnamese.
