CTMA Investment - $200K; Industry Cost Share - $464K
USAF average aircraft age has increased by 42% to 23 years. Most OEMs do not stock parts for legacy aircraft, and especially since most buys are low volume, therefore the cost to produce the parts is not justifiable. If the OEM isn’t in business, the option to source is no longer an option. Raster drawings (2D) often lead to receiving lower number of bids, delays during post-award and higher scrap rate. A solution is advanced “stitching” software leading to the creation of a composite drawing with complete sectional views (3D). CTMA Investment - $200K; Industry Cost Share - $464K Modernizing Legacy Tech Data Packages – 2D Raster to 3D CAD DLA survey noted that suppliers are 47% more likely to respond to an RFQ if tech data package contains a validated 3D CAD model DoD Benefits Application by Armed Services: CTMA Sponsored: Hill AFB (OO-ALC) DLA – Richmond Note: Tech Data Package not currently utilized. Potential: Wherever a 3D drawing exists within DoD. Wherever IUID information is revised on engineering drawings. Level 1 Benefits: Tech Data Package can lead to annual cost savings of $4M to over $14M. Level 2 & 3 Potential Benefits: Wherever a 2D engineering drawing exists within DoD. Wherever IUID information is revised on engineering drawings.
