INTRODUCTION to road safety
Road Safety is defined in Wikipedia as methods and measures used to prevent road users from being killed or seriously injured. Road users include : Pedestrians Cyclist Motorists Vehicles Other transportation modes

ROAD SAFETY ORGANIZATION - MALAYSIA
JKJR (Jabatan Keselamatan Jalan Raya) Malaysia also known as the Road Safety Department of Malaysia is an agency responsible for advocacy programmes and road safety education. JKJR was established on 15 September 2004 as a leader in road safety advocacy to increase the awareness of road users on the importance of road safety and ultimately reduce deaths and injuries caused by road traffic crashes. JKJR’s mission is to make Malaysia on par with develop the nation in terms of road safety by 2020 with the fatality index of 2 deaths per registered vehicles in line with the UN Global Decade of Action for Road Safety

DO’S AND DON’TS Hold child’s hand while crossing road Don’t jaywalk
Use the zebra crossing while crossing road Don’t let your children play near the road Don’t use phone while on the road Walk on side walk

10 golden rules of road safety
Plan your journey. Always adhere to the prescribed speed limit. Observe road safety guidelines when overtaking. Stop on RED at traffic lights. Avoid tailgating at all times. Check your mirrors and use the indicator before changing lanes . Don’t jump queue. Avoid weaving through traffic. Always give way to pedestrians and cyclists. Most importantly, KEEP YOUR COOL.
