Problems faced by the young nation made it clear that a new constitution was needed The Big Idea The US had difficulties with other nations Internal economic problems plague the new nation Shay’s Rebellion Problems of the Articles of Confederation Many Americans call for changes Americans surprised the world by winning their independence from Great Britain. But the 13 new states were far from being a strong nation. Internal problems, especially with taxes and the economy, led to protests and rebellion.
