7 The Body of a Speech This is what your speech is made up out of!

8 Speech Structures to Consider
Logical or Topical Chronological Order Used when you have several ideas but one idea seems to naturally precede another Organization is done using time as a framework Useful in informative speeches or persuasive speeches that require a timeline Useful for informative or entertaining speeches

9 Speech Structures to Consider
Classification Order Requires you to put thing into categories, classes or groups Useful for all three types of speech Instead of focusing on a broad topic, it is broken down into categories, classes and groups

10 Speech Structures to Consider
Problem-Solution Order Cause-Effect Order Most useful for persuasive speeches Similar to problem-solution First part describes the cause and the second part its effects First part of the speech outlines the problem, second part outlines the solution Useful for all three speech types Can incorporate other orders into both the problem and solution parts

11 The Conclusion of a Speech
Its all about how you wrap things up!

12 Conclusions should… End the speech on a high note and relate back to the introduction During the conclusion: Make the audience aware that speech is ending Leave them with a memory

13 Remember!!! Both the introduction and the conclusion need to be strong! People remember most vividly the beginning of the speech and strongly recall the conclusion of the speech!!
