Beach Management and data - overview Data for beach design
Beach management refers to: “…all or any of the activities concerned with the controlling, using or improving beaches for defence, recreation, or other purposes” (ICE, 2002; repeated in BMM 2010). Beach management refers to: “…all or any of the activities concerned with the controlling, using or improving beaches for defence, recreation, or other purposes” (ICE, 2002; repeated in BMM 2010). Beach Management Plans provide an accountable and transparent methodology for managing beaches as coastal defence assets based on risk information that derives from scheme design, monitoring and scientific/research input with the aim of managing the frontage in a sustainable way. Three main points Monitoring does provide some of the data required should we modify what we collect? More analysis is required to convert the data into information should we increase data analysis? Monitoring methods evolve should our collection strategy adapt?
