1 Graphing Linear Equations Using Intercepts
Lesson 8-3 Pages Graphing Linear Equations Using Intercepts

2 What you will learn! How to find the x- and y-intercepts of graphs.
How to graph linear equations using the x- and y-intercepts.

3 Vocabulary x-intercept y-intercept

4 What you really need to know!
The x-intercept is the x-coordinate of a point where a graph crosses the x-axis. The y-coordinate of this point is 0. To find the x-intercept, let y = 0 and solve for x.

5 What you really need to know!
The y-intercept is the y-coordinate of a point where a graph crosses the y-axis. The x-coordinate of this point is 0. To find the y-intercept, let x = 0 and solve for y.

6 State the x-intercept and y-intercept of the line.
Example 1: State the x-intercept and y-intercept of the line. x-intercept -2 y-intercept -2

7 State the x-intercept and y-intercept of the line.
Example 2: State the x-intercept and y-intercept of the line. x-intercept None y-intercept 2
