1 INFORMAL CONTRACTIONS

2 Read. Informal contractions are short forms of other words that people use when speaking casually. These contractions are common in songs, comic strips and other expressions of informal language. TEACHER: Talk to students about formal and informal language. Ask them to think of examples in L1. Ask them to read the text and check their understanding.

3 Read. Please remember that these are informal contractions. That means that we do not use them in formal speech, and we almost never use them in writing. Only if the writing is a transcription of a real life situation. TEACHER: Ask students to read the explanation and check their understanding.

4 Pay attention. These informal contractions are common in ALL forms of English in informal situations. TEACHER: Read the text with students and check if they got it.

5 Some informal contractions are:. gotta = got to wanna = want to
gonna = going to ain’t = it can be used in any negative form TEACHER: Show them the most common informal contractions in English.
