The Junior School will be running three stores and desperately need help! Thank you to the Foundation parents who have already offered their time but there are still plenty of spots requiring assistance. If you can give even half an hour of your time can you please put your name on the timetable in the Junior School corridor or let your classroom teacher know when you are available. Your help would be greatly appreciated. We will be sending home plates and instructions for the cake stall today. We would really appreciate some home baked goodies to sell at our stall. As the majority of our customers are likely to be students small cakes, slices and biscuits would be preferable. However we would of course be grateful for any contributions. * Don’t forget to get your Art work in for the Art Show. Big Write This week we will be writing a narrative based on the following picture. Please discuss the questions with your child on Tuesday night. •Who lives there? •Are they friendly or shy? •What do they do? •Does anyone know about them? Narratives usually contain a problem and a solution. What sort of problem might occur? How will it be resolved?

Foundation News: Last week was short but eventful. We continued our discussions about healthy eating and discussed the benefits of eating different coloured fruits and vegetables with the aid of online songs entitled ‘Eating a Rainbow’. In maths we discussed equal shares as an introduction to the concepts of division and multiplication. We wrote a narrative about a dragon in Big Write. Many of the Foundations found writing a made up story to be challenging, some spending most of their writing time trying to decide on what to write about. Please take some time to discuss the topic prior to Wednesday to ensure they have some ideas prior to our Big Write session. This weeks work: Soundwaves: The ending sounds:‘ng’ as in ring, ‘ss’ as in mess and ‘ff as in off. Maths: Time and probability. Thanks Caroline Grade One News: What a wonderful week it was in Year 1! The students finished off their Location unit in Maths and have more knowledge on positional language. The students had a great time directing each other around the classroom and were sure to use their positional language such as left, right, up, down, straight, clockwise, anti-clockwise, etc. This week in Maths the students will be starting the unit of Chance and will be expected to identify outcomes of familiar events involving chance. During Integrated Studies this week the students will begin to use their Life Education books, the books contain a lot of fun activities based around the importance of making healthier choices. Spelling is back this week! So please look for their new spelling words in their reader bag. Have a great week, Miss Martin. Grade two News: Hello families, I cannot believe that we have now passed the halfway mark for our last term in Year 2. The children completed the end of year spelling test that covered all the sounds we have looked at so far this year. The children did their very best and I am happy with their results. We are now revisiting addition and moving onto adding larger numbers but trying to use strategies that we used previously such as counting by tens and rounding. During our values education lesson we explored facial expressions and talked about how we can tell when someone is feeling a certain way. The children did a wonderful job of identifying each other’s feelings. The Year 2 sleepover is fast approaching and the children are so excited. It would be wonderful to have prompt payment so that we know numbers and we can organise food etc. Looking forward to a great week, Lori Frowd With Thanks Caroline McFaul, Lori Frowd and Hannah Martin.
