Figure skating originally started in the Summer Olympics before they began hosting the Winter Olympics, but figure skating was what helped spawn the idea of the Winter Olympics in the first place. It was a sport they wanted in The Olympic but it didn’t fit well with other summer events since it had to be indoors

What the Olympic motto means.
The Olympic words “ Citius, Alius, Fortius.” mean “Faster, Higher, and Stronger.” The words come from Italy, and is Latin. I think they use the the Olympic motto because it stands for what it took to get there, and what the people are capable of.

The Olympic Rings A Frenchman named Baron Pierre de Coubertin designed the Olympic Rings in 1912. The five rings stand for the five continents where the athletes traveled from to participate in the Olympics. They interlock to show unity between all the nations coming to compete. The five colors and the white background have at least one color from every nation’s flag The flag with the rings on it was first flown in 1920 in the city of Antwerp, Belgium.

The Olympic Flame. The Olympic Flame or Olympic Torch is a symbol of the Olympic games. Commemorating the theft of fire from the Greek god Zeus by Prometheus, its origins lie in ancient Greece, where a fire was kept burning throughout the celebration of the ancient Olympics. The fire was reintroduced at the 1928 Summer Olympics in Amsterdam, and it has been part of the modern Olympic Games ever since. The torch relay of modern times which transports the flame from Greece to the various designated sites of the games had no ancient precedent and was introduced by Carl Diem at the controversial 1936 Berlin Olympics.
