Sinharaja Forest Reserve in Sri Lanka; is a national park and a biodiversity hotspot in Sri Lanka. It is of international significance and has been designated a Biosphere Reserve in 1978 and World Heritage Site in 1988 by UNESCO. The reserve's name which translates as Lion Kingdom is only 21 km (13 mi) from east to west, and a maximum of 7 km (4.3 mi) from north to south, creating an area of 88.64km² but it is a treasure trove of endemic species, including trees, insects, amphibians, reptiles, birds and mammals.

9. Morning Trails by the Rainforest Eco Lodge
BIRD WATCHING TRAIL – 4km of about 2 hours starts at 6am.
Meet at the interstation Centre collect Leech Socks and proceed with a tour leader.
Mixed species of bird wave is one of the interesting experiences of the forest. Observations made on at least 100 such flocks in Sinharaja, reveal that over 40 species of birds, including 12 endemic species, participate in flocks. Bird flocks show a distribution pattern that corresponds closely with the stratified vegetation structure, and are usually accompanied by animals such as the Giant Squirrel, the Jungle Squirrel and the Purple Faced Leaf Monkey.
NATURE MAIN TRAIL – 3Km for about 3 hours starts at 10am.
This trail takes the guests through the eco system change – from Tea Estate Canopy to the disturbed forest.

10. Afternoon and Night Trails by the Rainforest Eco Lodge
WATERFALL TRAIL – 2km of about 2.5 hours starts at 3pm.
Meet at the interstation Centre collect Leech Socks and proceed with a tour leader.
Slow flowing and clear water, with leaf litter and sandy bottom, covered with forest canopy. Guests could enjoy and experience ;
Foot therapy – on a natural water flow with stone suckers.
Stream bathing.
NIGHT TRAIL – 3Km for about 1 hour starts at 6.30pm
Walking in the forest at night turn off all the lights for a minute; enjoy and concentrate to listen the sounds of the forest, miles away from your home.
