2 What is a code? It’s purpose is to set rules and regulations which outline the social norms and responsibilities of practices for an individual and organisation.

3 What is NMC? NMC stands for Nursing Midwifery Council. It sets out the universal standards expected from nurses and midwifes which they are expected to apply and follow so they are able to register to practice in the UK. The reasons behind this is so that nurses and midwifes can improve and provide better care and attention for vulnerable individuals within the healthcare services.

4 Why should practice be applied?
So that nurses and midwifes can promote safety and effective practice within the setting so residents are protected against harm and abuse. nurses and midwives are expected to respect individuality and uphold their human rights. respect the differences amongst individuals in order to promote diversity so that fair and equal treated is promoted.
