Keeping Our Gardens Genesis 2:5-15

(5) When no bush of the field was yet in the land and no small plant of the field had yet sprung up--for the LORD God had not caused it to rain on the land, and there was no man to work the ground, (6) and a mist was going up from the land and was watering the whole face of the ground-- (7) then the LORD God formed the man of dust from the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living creature. Genesis 2:5-15 ESV

(8) And the LORD God planted a garden in Eden, in the east, and there he put the man whom he had formed. (9) And out of the ground the LORD God made to spring up every tree that is pleasant to the sight and good for food. The tree of life was in the midst of the garden, and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. (10) A river flowed out of Eden to water the garden, and there it divided and became four rivers. Genesis 2:5-15 ESV

(11) The name of the first is the Pishon
(11) The name of the first is the Pishon. It is the one that flowed around the whole land of Havilah, where there is gold. (12) And the gold of that land is good; bdellium and onyx stone are there. (13) The name of the second river is the Gihon. It is the one that flowed around the whole land of Cush. Genesis 2:5-15 ESV

(14) And the name of the third river is the Tigris, which flows east of Assyria. And the fourth river is the Euphrates. (15) The LORD God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to work it and keep it. Genesis 2:5-15 ESV

(31) "You shall make a lampstand of pure gold
(31) "You shall make a lampstand of pure gold. The lampstand shall be made of hammered work: its base, its stem, its cups, its calyxes, and its flowers shall be of one piece with it. (32) And there shall be six branches going out of its sides, three branches of the lampstand out of one side of it and three branches of the lampstand out of the other side of it; Exodus 25:31-36 ESV

(33) three cups made like almond blossoms, each with calyx and flower, on one branch, and three cups made like almond blossoms, each with calyx and flower, on the other branch--so for the six branches going out of the lampstand. (34) And on the lampstand itself there shall be four cups made like almond blossoms, with their calyxes and flowers, Exodus 25:31-36 ESV

(35) and a calyx of one piece with it under each pair of the six branches going out from the lampstand. (36) Their calyxes and their branches shall be of one piece with it, the whole of it a single piece of hammered work of pure gold. Exodus 25:31-36 ESV

(52) The people of Israel shall pitch their tents by their companies, each man in his own camp and each man by his own standard. (53) But the Levites shall camp around the tabernacle of the testimony, so that there may be no wrath on the congregation of the people of Israel. And the Levites shall keep guard over the tabernacle of the testimony." (54) Thus did the people of Israel; they did according to all that the LORD commanded Moses. Numbers 1:52-54 ESV

(17) The house, that is, the nave in front of the inner sanctuary, was forty cubits long. (18) The cedar within the house was carved in the form of gourds and open flowers. All was cedar; no stone was seen. ... (29) Around all the walls of the house he carved engraved figures of cherubim and palm trees and open flowers, in the inner and outer rooms. 1 Kings 6:17-18, ESV

(30) The floor of the house he overlaid with gold in the inner and outer rooms. (31) For the entrance to the inner sanctuary he made doors of olivewood; the lintel and the doorposts were five-sided. (32) He covered the two doors of olivewood with carvings of cherubim, palm trees, and open flowers. He overlaid them with gold and spread gold on the cherubim and on the palm trees. 1 Kings 6:17-18, ESV

(22) All these, who were chosen as gatekeepers at the thresholds, were 212. They were enrolled by genealogies in their villages. David and Samuel the seer established them in their office of trust. (23) So they and their sons were in charge of the gates of the house of the LORD, that is, the house of the tent, as guards. (24) The gatekeepers were on the four sides, east, west, north, and south. 1 Chronicles 9:22-27 ESV

(25) And their kinsmen who were in their villages were obligated to come in every seven days, in turn, to be with these, (26) for the four chief gatekeepers, who were Levites, were entrusted to be over the chambers and the treasures of the house of God. (27) And they lodged around the house of God, for on them lay the duty of watching, and they had charge of opening it every morning. 1 Chronicles 9:22-27 ESV

(9) For zeal for your house has consumed me, and the reproaches of those who reproach you have fallen on me. Psalm 69:9 ESV
