2 PROPOSED TITLE Studies on seed coating with essential oils and polymer in pea (Pisum sativum L.)

3 OBJECTIVES To study the effect of seed coating with essential oils and polymer on growth and seed yield of pea. To study the effect of seed coating with essential oils and polymer on seed quality of pea in storage.

4 The Study shall be conducted in two different experiments under field and laboratory conditions :

5 Experiment- 1: To study the effect of essential oils and polymer coating of seed on seed production in pea Crop Pea VARIETY Punjab -89 NUMBER OF TREATMENTS 20 (5X4) FACTOR 1 ESSENTIAL OIL FACTOR 2 POLYMER DESIGN RCBD (factorial) REPLICATIONS 3 PLOT SIZE 1.5 m×1.5m SPACING 30 cm ×7.5 cm

6 Treatment details : The experiment shall comprise of two factors:
1. Essential oils - E0- No treatment E1- Acorus 1.25 ml/kg seed. E2- Acorus 2.5 ml/kg seed E3- Meriandra 1.25 ml/kg seed E4- Meriandra 2.5 ml/kg seed 2. Polymer coating – P0 – No treatment P ml/kg seed P ml/kg seed P ml/kg seed

10 Experiment-2 To study the effect of essential oils and polymer coating on seed storability:
Three factors are involved in this experiment: 1st and 2nd factors are same as in field condition

11 3rd factor: Storage periods
S0 : No storage S1 : 3 months S2 : 6 months S3 : 9 months S4 :12 months Total no. of treatments : (5x4x5) Replications : Four Design : CRD (factorial) Storage containers : Plastic boxes Storage temperature : Ambient condition Method of testing : Paper towel method ( according to IMSCS)
