5. Interventions
In line with the DME universal access strategy the following will be undertaken in 2006:
Track socio-economic indicator to maximise impact
Actively participate in Municipal IDP’s
Streamline planning process with municipalities and Eskom
Initiate Municipal assistance programme
Closer co-operation with DoH on housing projects
Regional presence to assist municipalities during planning and implementation
Initiate a network rehabilitation program
Initiate programme to introduce modern thermal fuels like LP Gas, ethanol gel for cooking, heating
