4. Loyalty Under Distress
During an interview with The Virginian-Pilot, two
WWII prisoners of war talk about their captivities:
“I could have run away at any time,” Al Cratch says, “but who would have helped the others?”
“I’ve got no animosity they were doing what they were told to do, and I was doing what I was told to do—or what I held my hand up and swore to do. That’s what you take an oath for. That’s what you believe in and that’s it.” (Stanley Woody)

5. Loyalty to Whom?
Last week SN Brown asked to leave work at noon today. SN Brown informed you:
SN Brown’s spouse has a job interview for a part-time evening position.
Interviews are only conducted during the day.
The extra money will help out with the family’s finances.
SN Brown has a young child with special needs.
When SN Brown handed you a request chit, you said, “Don’t be silly, it’s only for two hours; I’ll tell chief.”
You forgot to tell chief, and now the job board is full.
Chief tells everyone they will have to work late to get all jobs accomplished.
