Creative Commons license enables creators of digital media to tailor a copyright license that allows use of their work with some restrictions – “some rights reserved”
On the copyright continuum, Creative Commons license allows use that falls between All Rights Reserved (cannot use material without permission) and full public domain (can be freely used without attribution)
6 license options based on two main conditions:
Whether commercial uses of the work are allowed ($ symbol)
Whether derivatives are allowed (no derivatives = symbol)
Always requires attribution – must give credit to source of media when it is used (by: symbol)
Common Currency project recommends the Attribution-NonCommercial-No Derivatives license
