U.S. forces faced heavy resistance at Omaha Beach, where there were over 4,000 American casualties. However, by day’s end, approximately 160,000 Allied troops had successfully stormed Normandy’s beaches.

On May 2, 1945 the Soviets captured Berlin Five days later, Germany unconditionally surrendered Allies declared May 8, V-E (Victory in Europe) Day BUT…..Now there is still Japan!....
