Arunkumar Appu / PM / SBU B 2 OISD -Major Activities They formulates all the Safety Standards for the Oil and Natural Gas Industry. They always try to update the safety standards in line with the current international practices in the areas of safety and fire fighting in the hydrocarbon processing industry They works as External Safety Audits (ESAs) which involves hazard and risk identification and risk reduction, management of change and work permit system. They do critical examinations of all the components of the Safety Management System viz. Management policy, management attitude towards safety, review of plant layouts, operating/inspection/maintenance procedures, fire/accident records, fire protection facilities, safety training etc. They conducts Pre-Commissioning Safety Audit (PCSA) of all new projects as also expansion of units in the existing locations per directive from MOP&NG.These audits are carried out on chargeable basis. They evaluates the Safety performance of the organisations in the oil industry and is evaluated every year through a safety award scheme instituted by the MOP & NG.

Evaluation of performance is done by specially developed system based on the hazard potential, safety management system, losses due to incident and complexity. The safety awards are given in the following categories: a) Refineries b) POL Marketing Organisations c) LPG Marketing Organisations d) Oil & Gas Assets e) Cross Country Pipelines f) Lube Oil Blending Plants g) Other Processing Organisations They Conducts Training Programme / Workshop and International conferences and exhibitions ds. They do Accident Reporting & Investigation by maintaining a database of accidents taking place in the oil industry. The analysis of these incidents is shared with the industry to avoid recurrence. OISD also investigates the major incidents

Arunkumar Appu / PM / SBU B 4 OISD consists of a small core group of technical experts of various disciplines, on deputation from the industry. OISD, headed by an Executive Director, gets its directions and guidance from the Safety Council, the apex body consisting of a)Senior officials of the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, b)Chief executives of oil/gas companies and c)Heads of the concerned statutory and advisory bodies. OISD coordinates with experts from the industry through various committees to carry out its major activities. The Safety Council / Safety Directorate does not supplant or, in any way take away the present responsibilities of various statutory agencies like DGMS, CCE, Inspectorate of Boilers, Factories Inspectors etc. It also does not dilute the responsibilities of the Chief Executives of the oil industry, who are ultimately responsible for the safety measures in their organizations. Arunkumar Appu / PM / SBU B 6 Proposal from Rittal We can provide the Enclsoure solutions to the various areas pertaining to the O&G s like refinery, retail outlets, bulk handling units etc. Need to map the solutions installed in each area and study the usage. Propose the solution of Rittal with the value engineering. In the case of Retail outlet panel, Need to make a study of the Electrical requirements for every retail outlets of HPCL,BPCL and IOCL. Remodify the current Shell PDB as per their individual requirement. Map the panel integrators who provide the solution currently.
