2 High school options and graduation requirements*
Total 21 Credits 4.0 Credits – English 4.0 Credits – Math (Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2, math credit) 3.0 Credits – Social Studies (US History, LSN Government, World History) 3.0 Credits – Biology and 2 other lab sciences 1.0 Credit – Fine arts 1.0 Credit – Technology Foundations .5 Credit – Your Personal Fitness .5 Credit – Health Issues *Students should keep in mind that selecting the easiest courses and programs not be the ones that will turn their dreams into realities

3 High school options and graduation requirements (Cont.)
2 credits in a World Language or American Sign Language (must be same language) & 2 credits in electives OR Complete (4–9 credits) a Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE)-Approved sequence of courses. All students are required to complete 24 hours of direct service learning hours before high school graduation. (75 total hours – 51 hours completed through Science and Social Studies) Attendance: 4 yrs. Beyond grade 8 (unless approved option) *Middle school students can earn High School credit for Math (Algebra and above) and Foreign Language (Level I and above)

Career Academies (9th ) – Application Available to Everyone Incoming 9th grade students will be able to participate in an academy if it is offered at their boundary school Examples: Academy of Homeland Security (Parkdale), Academy of Business and Finance (Northwestern) Programs are offered at ALL High School for the EXCEPT one Technical Academies (11th & 12th) – Application Process Provide knowledge & skills for entering career fields and/or post-secondary education Examples: Masonry, Cosmetology, Plumbing Programs are held at the following: Northern Center- Bladensburg & Laurel HS Central Center- Suitland HS Southern Center- Crossland & Gwynn Park HS
