Power and Authority No discussion with workers Dictating what is to be done Task Centred Less concern for the welfare of the workers Advantages? Leader feels in control Workers know what to do Decisions are fast Disadvantages? Frustrated workers Too much dependence on the leader Fear = poor performance No contributions/suggestions from workers

Workers have some say in decisions (discussions) Delegation of power and authority to workers Employee Centred Advantages? Loyal and committed workers More support for manager Development of workers skills More motivated staff Disadvantages? Slow decision making Manager might feel “obliged” to listen Lack of workers knowledge to make decisions Conflict between workers
