WHAT IS DUAL CREDIT (DC)?
Dual Credit is a voluntary program in which qualified junior and senior students may enroll in courses that receive both college and high school credit. LVISD partners with St. Philip’s College (SPC), and Palo Alto College (PA) to provide dual academic coursework. Both are part of Alamo Community Colleges.

COURSE DELIVERY- ON CAMPUS
Course instruction is delivered in one of two ways: 1. On Campus Instruction - On campus courses are taught on the LVHS campus by LVHS teachers who are qualified as adjunct instructors through ACC.
17
COURSE DELIVERY - ONLINE
2. Online Instruction: Some DC courses are taught online. All instruction and interaction with the professor is done electronically. Because the course is a college course, the Family Education Right and Privacy Act (FERPA) laws deny parental access to professors and/or grades. NOTE: Students are required to print their online course grades for LVHS so that grades can recorded for LVHS transcript. Online students MUST be self disciplined and mature.
18
COURSE DELIVERY ONLINE CONTINUED
The professor teaching an online course may or may not know that a student enrolled in the course is a high school student. The course requirements and expectations are those required and expected of every college student. Students enrolled in online courses are assigned a DC Computer Lab period for each course taken. Students have the time and opportunity to complete and submit their work during the computer lab period.

FAQ 1. Will the college courses change over time?
The courses we offer could potentially change over time dependent upon staffing and program offerings. 2. Do students have to take GO FAAR at school? Yes, students need to take Go FAAR at school. 3. How long does the TSI last and what time? The TSI will begin at 8:30AM and take about 3 hours. 4. Will Dual Credit be offered during athletics period? Scheduling will be dependent on Master Schedule, typically completed in Summer.
28
FAQ 5. What is the difference between credits and hours? Students can take up to 14 dual credits while in a high school. For example PreCal 1414 counts as two credits, because in the fall its 1414 and the spring it is 2412 = two credits. However, after PreCal is completed a student will have eight hours. To determine hours, take the second number in the course and total together. In the end PreCal 1414 will be 2 credits with 8 hours earned.
