What is FSSE? (pronounced “fessie”)
An instrument designed to measure faculty expectations of student engagement in educational practices that are linked with high levels of learning and development.

FSSE 2003 Pilot Test Completed at 143 colleges/universities
Completed by over 14,000 faculty members All institutions participated in NSSE also

FSSE 2003 at UTPA Completed by 145 faculty members
57% males, 43% females

Types of Questions Included
Gender, race & ethnicity, discipline taught. Time spent preparing for class. Course emphasis. Expectations from students. Class & homework assignments. Time spent in class (lecture, discussion, etc.). Emphasis on engaging students in cognitive activities.
