WELCOME TO THE SACRED CENTER ~ hosted at St. Mary’s Church Parish House, 324 E. Main Rd. Portsmouth, RI We hope you see this comprehensive class schedule as a series of “invitations” to step away from your busy life and find support on your journey. Here you will be embraced in our atmosphere of kindness, love and acceptance. Peace be with you, Reverend Shelley Dungan CLASS DESCRIPTIONS: ALL CLASSES ARE $10.00   GENTLE YOGA - Come experience slow-paced, gentle movement blended with meditation and inspired readings.  This class will help you release physical tension and mental stress while fostering flexibility and deep relaxation.  Most of the time is spent down on the mat using supportive blankets, blocks, bolsters and straps.  You will leave feeling centered, calm, peaceful and bathed in Divine Love. Well suited for those new to yoga, those who are low on energy and those with minor physical limitations.  No yoga experience needed. OPEN YOGA - Often called All Levels Yoga - This class is open to people of all ages (including teens) and all levels of yoga experience. This accessible approach to yoga is both powerful and empowering. You will be provided the opportunity to learn and refine the basics of alignment and form in each pose with clear instruction and individual support so healthy beginners and seasoned yogis alike will feel successful. Many types of poses will be explored and modifications will be offered for students of every experience level. There will be a focus on developing strength, flexibility and fluid movement, requiring more stamina than gentle yoga.  All students will benefit from the weave of philosophy and breathing instruction that provides a foundation for the practice. This class ends with guided relaxation. You will leave class relaxed, refreshed, and inspired.  YOGA BUFF - Shelley's personal creation ... this upbeat, energetic class blends all the bliss and flow of intermediate level yoga with some "buff" for additional toning and strength-building.  Common yoga postures will be practiced integrating a variety of fitness equipment including light weights, stability balls and bands.  This class ends with guided relaxation.  As always, you will leave class relaxed, refreshed, and inspired. CORE YOGA - This intermediate, vinyasa-based class will have a special focus on building core strength, drawing from Gail St Jacques' many years of fitness instruction.  This is a complete, dynamic yoga class with an emphasis on core, designed to stimulate and detox the entire body.  The structure of the class will begin with centering and warm ups which will lead to standing sequences that stretch, strengthen and balance as we seamlessly weave in core conditioning. Instruction focuses on breath, alignment and cultivation of inner awareness. Build strength and vitality while finding your own inner peace. All levels welcomed and embraced. YIN AND REIKI - A beautiful complement to a more active yoga practice and suitable for many levels, this yin and Reiki class is an opportunity to explore the depths of your being. Yin is a practice of primarily seated and reclined yoga poses that when held challenge you to be with and observe sensations of the body and responses of the mind. Reiki is a technique that when applied allows you to receive, channel and balance life force energy. Together yin and Reiki help you release physical, emotional, energetic and spiritual blockages to create the free flow of energy for healing, strength and overall well-being. CHAIR-BASED YOGA – This is the perfect class for beginners and those seeking more confidence in their yoga practice. Using a chair enables you to safely learn and explore alignment, balance and movement of the body in various seated and standing yoga poses. Chair-based yoga offers all the benefits of mat based yoga, that when combined with breathing and meditation techniques, helps you energize, strengthen and relax both body and mind. Students with physical limitations are encouraged to come! JOURNEY DANCE - This class will led by The Reverend Jennifer Pedrick, the priest here at St. Mary's Church.  With music from around the world, this will be a beautiful, one hour inspired exploration of familiar yoga movements and the freedom of guided group and individual dance, sure to release freedom and joy for all who participate. No experience needed. RCP - Reflection, Connection & Prayer Sharing Circle – Come, get to know your fellow yogis and explore ways to live a yogic, grace-filled life. This will be a skillfully guided time of reflective discussion & spiritual community.  Tea will be served.  RCP IS FREE Questions: Rev.
