Communities of Learning | Kāhui Ako
A Community of Learning | Kāhui Ako is a group of education and training providers that form around children and young people's learning pathways, and work together to help them achieve their full potential.

Progress to date for Communities of Learning | Kāhui Ako
There are now 210 approved Communities of Learning These Kāhui Ako include:- 1,739 schools 415 early learning services 10 tertiary providers 588,655 children & young people, including: 142,118 Māori 60,269 Pasifika 8,869 in Māori Medium 19,482 in Early Childhood Education Note: July 2016 rolls are used for schools and July 2015 rolls are used for early learning services

8,869 Māori medium learners are in 155 kura in 72 Kāhui Ako There are four fully Māori Medium Kāhui Ako. Appointments – New Zealand
139 or 66% of Communities of Learning have appointed a leader One Leadership role is allocated per community. Communities of learning can appoint a leader from the day they are approved. On average it takes 359 days or a year from approval for a Community of Learning to appoint a leader. Communities of Learning with a Leader are 30% more likely to have their achievement challenges finalised and endorsed. Once a Community of Learning has had their Achievement Challenges Endorsed and Leader appointed they can begin appointing Across school and Within school teachers. 91 Kāhui Ako have had their achievement challenges endorsed 224 out of 338* Across School Teachers in 61 out of 210 Communities of Learning 1,116 out of 1,816* Within School Teachers in 60 out of 210 Communities of Learning One across school teacher role is allocated per ~50 FTTE One within school teacher role is allocated per ~10 FTTE * Number of roles that have been released, ie. Total roles available to Communities of Learning with endorsed achievement challenges.

Two Kāhui Ako may be similar in overall level of development, but have different areas where they are more or less developed This Kāhui Ako is more developed in ‘Pathways’ and ‘Partnering’, but may need additional support in ‘Leading’, and ‘Evidence’ By comparison, this Kāhui Ako has the opposite needs X
