IDENTIFICATION EL PROGRAM MONITORING RECLASSIFICATION Parents fill out the home language survey English learners take the CELDT or ELPAC test English learners receive designated English Language Development (ELD) English learners’ progress is monitored throughout the school year Once the English learner meets all the requirements for reclassification, the student becomes reclassified

California Law Requires Four RECLASSIFICATION Criteria

The California Language Development Test or CELDT used in California to determine language proficiency for new students. New students have 30 calendar days to take the CELDT The new ELPAC test is taken annually beginning in Spring until the student is reclassified LANGUAGE ASSESSMENT

Basic Skills: Reading Inventory (RI)
Reading Inventory (RI) Test Given to all students in grades 2-8 each August, November, February and May Measures the LEXILE level of your child’s reading Lexile Framework is national. It is a measures level of reading difficulty of text The Lexile scale ranges from below 100L to above 1600L. Levels of RI for each grade 2-8: BELOW BASIC BASIC (meets criteria 4 of reclassification) PROFICIENT ADVANCED
