Lesson 1 Aim: to learn the basic order of operation and apply it to math problems as well as being able to create our own problems. Order of Operations: Parenthesis Exponents Multiplication Division Addition Subtraction Examples (2) (4) – parenthesis 3raised to 6 – exponent 4 *7, 6*0- Multiplication 6+9, 0+1- Addition 7-1, subtraction Task: your task is to come up with 4 examples of each order of operations, and you will have 20 minutes to think and work on your task.

Lesson 2 Aim : To be able to understand the concept of Solving a word problem and identifying the basic rules to solving a word problem. Solving a word problem guidelines Read the word problem 2 times carefully. Try to understand the key words and key terms to what the problem is asking you to do. Solve your problem but remember to show your work. Example: Alisa has 36 stickers. She then goes to Wal-Mart and purchases 12 more stickers . How many stickers does Alisa have all together. 36 = 48 Task: you are two come up with 5 word problems and solve your problems. For each problem you solve you are to show your work step by step to how you solved it. You will have 30 minutes to work on these problems. When everyone is done we will then go over and share our problems.

Lesson 3 Aim: To be able to understand the 4 operations and the key words to each operations by providing examples of each. 4 operations are Multiplication, Addition, Subtraction, and Division Addition -Add -Plus -Total 3+4 9+16 Subtraction Take away Minus Difference 3-1 12-3 Multiplication -times -Multiply 4*3 8*8 Division -Divide -Quotient 6/3 2/2 Task: as you went over what a order of operation is in math , you are to come up with 6 examples of Each . You will have 30 minutes to work on them.
