Cortes is given 20 slave women, one of which is named Marina. He takes her as a wife and she becomes his interpreter and spy. She is seen as a traitor by her people after the Spanish are able to defeat the Aztecs.

The Spanish capture King Moctezuma and kill many of the natives. The Aztecs attack but Moctezuma is murdered.
