Spot the Dangers Look for dangers whenever you’re near water Spot Take Advice Read the signs Ask lifeguards and adults Advice Go with a Friend Always go with friends or family, it’s more fun, and they can help in an emergency Friend Emergency Before starting the activity, take this opportunity for the class to practice remembering the SAFE Code. In this activity pupils will practice completing the first point of the SAFE Code, ‘Spot the Dangers’. Learn what to do in an Emergency Call 999 and shout for help Never go into the water to help someone

YOU DON’T KNOW WHAT’S BENEATH THE SURFACE BANKS CAN HAVE CRUMBLING OR SLIPPERY EDGES ALWAYS WEAR A BUOYANCY AID BROKEN AND MISSING RESCUE AIDS The teacher or pupils can click (or touch) where they think there is a danger, then the information notice will appear. Pupils can discuss each of the dangers and how they would keep themselves safe. DON’T SWIM SOON AFTER EATING TETHER INFLATABLES TO THE SHORE BEWARE OF DEEP WATER – KNOW WHAT TO DO IN AN EMERGENCY DON’T SWIM IN A WATER SPORTS AREA BEWARE SLIPPERY AND CRUMBLING CLIFFS – READ THE SIGNS DON’T JUMP FROM CLIFFS, THE WATER MIGHT BE SHALLOW AVOID DIRTY AND POLLUTED WATER BE SUN SAFE – WEAR SUN CREAM WEAR YOUR BUOYANCY AIDS The teacher or pupils can click (or touch) where they think there is a danger, then the information notice will appear.
