6 3 Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised, and his greatness is unsearchable. 4 One generation shall commend your works to another, and shall declare your mighty acts. Every generation leaves a legacy of what they believe to be true…what will be yours?

7 It has been said that “the proper study of mankind is man
It has been said that “the proper study of mankind is man.” I believe it is equally true that the proper study of God’s elect is God; the proper study of a Christian is the Godhead. The highest science, the loftiest speculation, the mightiest philosophy, which can ever engage the attention of a child of God, is the name, the nature, the person, the work, the doings, and the existence of the great God whom he calls his Father Charles Spurgeon 1855; first sermon; topic was God

8 5 On the glorious splendor of your majesty, and on your wondrous works, I will meditate. 6 They shall speak of the might of your awesome deeds, and I will declare your greatness. 7 They shall pour forth the fame of your abundant goodness and shall sing aloud of your righteousness. God’s fame…glory...Greatness!

9 8 The LORD is gracious and merciful, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love. 9 The LORD is good to all, and his mercy is over all that he has made. God’s grace, mercy, love, & goodness

10 Exodus 34:6 The LORD passed before him and proclaimed, “The LORD, the LORD, a God merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness, 7 keeping steadfast love for thousands…

11 10 All your works shall give thanks to you, O LORD, and all your saints shall bless you! 11 They shall speak of the glory of your kingdom and tell of your power, 12 to make known to the children of man your mighty deeds, and the glorious splendor of your kingdom. 13a Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and your dominion endures throughout all generations. God’s works: creation; salvation…Adam & Eve, Noah & family, Babel, Israel out of Egypt, the Atonement...His mighty deeds! God’s Kingdom

12 13b [The LORD is faithful in all his words and kind in all his works
13b [The LORD is faithful in all his words and kind in all his works.] 14 The LORD upholds all who are falling and raises up all who are bowed down. 15 The eyes of all look to you, and you give them their food in due season. 16 You open your hand; you satisfy the desire of every living thing. God’s faithfulness, His rule, His providence

13 Genesis 8:21 …the LORD said in his heart, “I will never again curse the ground because of man, for the intention of man's heart is evil from his youth. Neither will I ever again strike down every living creature as I have done. 22 While the earth remains, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night, shall not cease.” God sustains the universe until He recreates it

14 17 The LORD is righteous in all his ways and kind in all his works
17 The LORD is righteous in all his ways and kind in all his works. 18 The LORD is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth. 19 He fulfills the desire of those who fear him; he also hears their cry and saves them. 20 The LORD preserves all who love him, but all the wicked he will destroy. God’s righteousness, His saving mercy. God’s judgment

15 Proverbs 9:10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is insight. John 14:21 Whoever has my commandments and keeps them, he it is who loves me. And he who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I will love him and manifest myself to him.”

16 21 My mouth will speak the praise of the LORD, and let all flesh bless his holy name forever and ever.

17 PRINCIPLES Great is the LORD and greatly to be praised!
God’s character and His works should be meditated on, spoken about and praised by all who know Him. Praising God reorients priorities and strengthens believers to live in a fallen world

18 APPLICATIONS The One Holy Triune God…He was David’s King and He is my King! Do you know Him? David said “Every day I will bless you and praise your name forever and ever.” Do you? What hinders you from meditating on, speaking about and praising God every day? Praise is worship! Do you worship every day? Why not?
