A group of people with similar backgrounds, incomes, and ways of living
Different social classes:
Kings
Government officials
Artisans
Peasants (farmers)

4. Thinking about trade… Trade is clearly very important today.
Hunters-gatherers did not trade that much, and if they did it was usually only plants, animals, and other nearby resources.
Once people settled down in towns and villages, trade became much more common.

Each “group” is going to become a social class.
You will have 5 minutes to discuss these questions with your social class before you trade:
What does it mean to be a ____________?
What are the needs of your social class?
How much wealth do you have? Why?

Each “social class” is going to get different items to trade.
When I tell you to, you are going to move freely around our classroom “village” and trade.
You can decide how much to trade, and what items you want.
Keep in mind the value of these items- they are not all worth the same.
